Governor Alejandro Armenta announced that the Government of Puebla will invest US$2,856,500 in cycling infrastructure to promote sustainable mobility, improve cyclist safety, and achieve better bike lane connectivity across the state.<\/p>

The announcement came after a bike ride from Ecoparque Metropolitano to Parque del Arte, where the governor was accompanied by Gabriela S\u00e1nchez, Puebla\u2019s Department of Sports and Youth.<\/p>

Armenta announced that authorities are currently conducting a technical assessment to identify the best way to connect the capital\u2019s bike lane network. Thus, construction and implementation will begin after the assessment is completed.<\/p>

Nothing Will Be Demolished<\/strong><\/h2>

Likewise, the governor stated that this US$2,856,500 investment in better bike lane connectivity and cycling infrastructure does not aim to demolish anything, but rather to build and adapt existing infrastructure.<\/p>

Authorities confirmed that bike lanes built during the Rafael Moreno Valle administration will not be removed, but maintained, with the aim of promoting better, faster, and healthier mobility through bicycle use.<\/p>

\u201cWe are not going to demolish anything; we are going to improve it. Existing infrastructure must be put to use, as it belongs to the people of Puebla. The money invested belongs to the people and must be used responsibly,\u201d said Armenta.<\/p>

Innovation And Technology<\/strong><\/h2>

In addition to building new miles of bike lanes, this project will also introduce technology to provide cyclists with greater safety and better route planning during their trips.<\/p>

Following this announcement, the governor of Puebla announced that several bike lanes will be equipped with security cameras and photocells, using existing infrastructure. In addition, cyclists will be able to plan and track routes along bike paths during their trips through geolocation technology.  <\/p>

These data will be accessible via a mobile app, allowing cyclists to visualize and choose possible routes during their journeys.<\/p>

The US$2,856,500 investment in cycling infrastructure also includes new lighting. Lights will be installed along bike lanes to ensure greater safety and peace of mind for those riding at night.<\/p>

Better Bike Lane Connectivity Through a Made in Puebla Approach<\/strong><\/h2>

Alejandro Armenta highlighted that a bicycle factory with local manufacturing in Puebla will be developed during his term. The goal is to make bicycles more affordable and reduce the purchase of imported bikes, which often have higher costs.<\/p>

He also said his administration is considering distributing up to one million bicycles for young people.<\/p>

Slow And Steady<\/strong><\/h2>

Moreover, the governor emphasized that the total investment to improve and build new cycling infrastructure will be US$2,856,500, the focus remains on better bike lane connectivity. Meanwhile, the total number of kilometers to be built has not been disclosed.<\/p>

However, in this initial stage, the first points to intervene will be\u00a0V\u00eda Atlixc\u00e1yotl, the boulevard of Hermanos Serd\u00e1n, Perif\u00e9rico and Camino Real.<\/p>

Therefore, with this initiative, the Government of Pueba aims to promote cycling, sports, and public health.
