The aim is creating a bikeway that works as a dorsal spine of an interconnected system.<\/p><p>Everardo Flores G\u00f3mez, director of this proposal, mentions that the ideal place for that is Itzaes Av. This location and dimensions are suitable to connect north and south of the city.<\/p><p>The purpose of this avenue is to become into a cycle path that connect with secondary routes. Moreover, is considered to construct a bikeway in both sides of the avenue, going from Um\u00e1n to Progreso highway.<\/p><p>In order to create this integral bike path network, the program must extend to other places of this capital, allowing cyclists to commute to different points of Merida safely and quickly. In this way, it wouldn\u2019t be started from nothing.<\/p><p>Is also considered the <strong>expansion <\/strong>of the already created ones to zones as Kanas\u00edn, Um\u00e1n and coastal zone easing the intraurban displacement by bike.<\/p><p>And that isn\u2019t everything, as bikeway should do, this will be <strong>interconnected <\/strong>with other means of transport. That\u2019s why is thought to implement bike parking in strategical points of the city. \u00a0<\/p><p>Of course, the creation of an integral bikeway network involves the necessary tools for their implementation. Including correct signage, from physical barriers as <a href=\"https:\/\/ciclopistas.com\/producto\/bolardo-confi-bici-25\/\">confibicis <\/a>to special <a href=\"https:\/\/ciclopistas.com\/producto\/paleta-informativa-para-ciclistas\/\">indications <\/a>for cyclists.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-an-integral-bikeway-network-with-technology\"><strong>An integral bikeway network with technology<\/strong><\/h2><p>Of course, the implementation of physical devices also provides technological devices for the network to function.<\/p><p>That\u2019s why, the creation of an <strong>app <\/strong>that show users traffic state in real time, as available routes, service stations and bike parking location.<\/p><p>Something similar to the EcoBici program in Mexico City.<\/p><p>In reference to this, Merida has the <strong>En Bici<\/strong> system, with 600 bikes available for users. Distributed in a total of 88 stations that benefit to over 90 thousand users. &nbsp;<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"667\" height=\"501\" src=\"https:\/\/ciclopistas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-39.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7798\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ciclopistas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-39.png 667w, https:\/\/ciclopistas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-39-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/ciclopistas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-39-600x451.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 667px) 100vw, 667px\" \/><\/figure><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-merida-cyclist-city\">M\u00e9rida, cyclist city<\/h2><p>Nowadays, M\u00e9rida has a <a href=\"https:\/\/multisenal.com.mx\/blog\/infraestructura-y-equipamiento-ciclista-que-es\/\">cyclist infrastructure<\/a> of approximately <strong>144 miles<\/strong>. Bikeways allow a great mobility among their stations and urban areas that share with municipalities of Conkal, Um\u00e1n and Kanas\u00edn.<\/p><p>This represents a great advance considering that in 2020 the capital used to have <strong>68 miles<\/strong> of bike routes. In other words, doubled the quantity in four years.<\/p><p>Placing Merida as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mexico.itdp.org\/download\/ranking-ciclociudades-2021\/\">the best cycle-city of Mexico<\/a><\/strong> in <strong>2021<\/strong>, having this place instead other power nations in this matter, as CDMX, Guadalajara and Le\u00f3n.<\/p><p>In this regard, the chosen mayor, Cecilia Patr\u00f3n Laviada committed to improve road culture and sustainable transport during her term.
