Even though citizens of Puebla have passed through a too chaotic political environment, these last months have been pretty good for cycle paths in Puebla.
In one hand, the state created new programs that benefit tourism. In the same way, it was reshaped an important cycling infrastructure and even more important, were created new miles of bike ways.
More miles for cycle paths in Puebla
Adan Dominguez Sanchez, municipal president, said that the current council of Puebla built new 18 miles of cycle path in the capital of Puebla.
He also emphasized that the current stewardship, provided maintenance to the over 99 miles of cycling infrastructure and the existent one. And that in 2024, 6.2 miles of these received maintenance.
In terms of vertical signage, the mayor emphasized that city council used thermoplastic paint for 33,188 ft of lane markings in cycle paths. In addition, set pictograms and signs of “BIKE ONLY”. He also commented that installed cycling crossing stripes in over 6,220 ft of cycling infrastructure. Likewise, installed 540 confibicis.
New programs
One of the new and last cycling programs that implemented during the current administration, was the free loan service of bike for tourists.
That initiative consists in provide in bailment, 30 bikes to different hotels of Puebla center. The aim is that these places lend bikes freely to hosts; in this way, they would be able to cover cycle paths in Puebla and other attractive places.
However, we must mention that, this program will be active during the rest of the stewardship. It will depend of the following one to maintain the proposal.
The benefited hotels to the moment are: Hotel Colonial de Puebla, Hotel Marqués del Ángel, Hotel Loa Inn Puebla, Hotel Casona 65 and Hotel NH, all of them located in the main part of city.
Restructure of infrastructure
The cycling infrastructure that most benefit received was the cycle path Hermanos Serdan. Inaugurated in 2017, but received its first remodeling this year.
In total, invested 47 million of pesos for their maintenance, with that achieved to restore the 3.4 miles that form the cycle path.
