
One of the most important bike ways of South east of Mexico, Biciruta Mérida (Mérida bike route) just turned 18 years of existence. Almost 2 years of develop sports, healthy family co-existence and integration of sustainable transport among society.
The mayor Alejandro Ruz Castro emphasized the importance of this program for the social values. Commented that the Mérida Bike route is a sports and recreational venue where everyone has a space
“This program is designed to develop the best values that distinguish us as city: healthy coexistence, security, peace and calm, cycling practice as an alternative of urban mobility, sport, an appeal for population as visitors, meaning, we have a space that during 18 years has transformed in an alternative of family entertainment in both, night and Sunday editions”, commented.

Mérida Bike route, a space for sport
This sport venue, which official name is Biciruta de Paseo de Montejo, started activities in 2016 and has 3.2 miles of length. It covers the most emblematic avenues of the city, that goes from Ermita de Santa Isabel to Monumento a la Patria on Av. Paseo De Montejo.
It’s about a recreational bike path due operates on Sundays from 8 am to 12 pm and even in some occasions have night editions. These last have a great assistance, it can provide a unique experience by cycling during night in a safe and collective environment lighted by city lights as stars.
