Good news for cyclists and tourists. The Mexico Toluca interurban train considers the construction of a linear park and bikeway in its new stage of development.
The ambitious project is part of the partial plan of urban development (in Spanish, Plan Parcial de Desarrollo Urbano). This considers the construction of a linear park and at least 21 kilometers of length.
Where the linear park and bikeway will be built?
It may seem that authorities have thought to take advantage of all the space and opportunities “El Insurgente” provides to Valle de Toluca, which includes, spaces where this performs the journeys.
In this way, linear park and bikeway will be on the median where train pass by, space known as the Alameda 2000.
Specifically, both, the park and bikeway will start in the Zinacantepec station and will cover the Reyes Heroles and Ernesto Monroy streets, where are located the Normal de Educación Física and Tecnológico de Monterrey schools.
In this way, will try to bring young and student population together to greener spaces and of social co-existence.
Of course, the aim of work is to provide safety and functionality, for that, the performance of the necessary studies in the first stage of development of the great infrastructure.
“Limits shouldn’t exist, but neither risks and adventures, that area of the city hall requires an integral accompaniment and is exactly what is being performed, a study that allows to have the certainty of this cycling circuit or bikeway is accompanied by the necessary infrastructure that guarantees safety of users”.

The plan is that, the works extend to San Mateo Atenco, passing for the Toluca Centro and Metepec stations.
What are the demarcations that train will pass by?
According to the statement of Carlos Maza Lara, secretary of Urban development and infrastructure (Sedui by its acronym in Spanish-SEDUI Secretaría de Desarrollo Urbano e Infraestructura) from State of Mexico, the linear park and bikeway will connect with the city halls of Lerma, Metepec, Ocoyoacac, San Mateo Atenco, Toluca and Zinacantepec.
Besides bike lanes, the intention is to create green areas, child zones, sport spaces and zones intended for social interaction.
The aim is taking advantage of all the possible space and rescue other zones for the benefit of society.
“This project will improve in a harmonious and inclusive way the Valle de Toluca, where will be priority the needs of mexiquenses, through the improvement of public space, organized growth and construction or intra urban housing”.

Likewise, the secretary mentioned that construction may start after released the rights on road in that zone. This may occur this year.
Interurban train, opportunity for mobility and sustainability
Nowadays, the interurban train “El Insurgente” up to a million 700 thousand of inhabitants of the already mentioned city halls, above all, in move and time saving terms.
Now, the implementation of a bikeway develops the sustainable mobility, even though those that don’t use train, will have an exclusive bike lane that will ease their moves in the zone.
In addition, in economic terms, the train will foster tourism. But for their inhabitants also mean an increase in the value of heritages, due since its creation, the housing price exceed the 5 million of pesos.
On the other hand, the construction of the linear park and cycle path will also bring the increase in the value of properties, due zone will have more and better sustainable connections.
