There’s no secret: the use of the public transport of Mexico City (CDMX), and vice versa is to be stuck in traffic for hours. The construction of the mega bikeway in Ecatepec can avoid this, that, at the same time will connect with Tlalnepantla and G.A.M.
The initiative of the project is under the charge of the congresswoman Arleth Stephanie Grimaldo Osorio. The passionate MP for cycling, hiking and outdoor walks, mentions that this bikeway will have a length of 9.3 miles, for that will need the support of federal and state government.
Grimaldo Osorio indicated that the bikeway in Ecatepec would start for this municipality, passing by Tlalnepantla Oriente, Gustavo A. Madero and Tlalnepantla Poniente, until Palacio Municipal. With this, it would benefit to a total of 67 neighborhoods.
In addition, in a ride performed with cycling groups, indicated that this cycling lane will have the purpose of being recreational, of social and functional co-existence as mean of transport for people that work in CDMX and Edomex.
“The purpose of journey is that cycling groups explore the route and provide us their opinions to strengthen the project, to present it to a more consolidated way to state authorities such as a two-pronged project: recreational and social, and consolidates as an alternative to transport system”, detailed.

Bikeway in Ecatepec, a mobility option
Most of people that move in rush hours from Edomex to the capital and vice versa, last from two to three hours in performing the whole journey. Performing the same journey within a bikeway would reduce considerably their times.
One of the great advantages of a bike lane, is that this is exclusive for cyclists, and at least for now, for electric bikes and other non-motorized transports. This generates faster and safer flow for all the users.
According to this, the MP indicated that the bikeway in Ecatepec would allow people to save time to less than the half.
According to that, the journey by car between Ecatepec and palacio municipal of Tlalnepantla takes from two to three hours in the most chaotic moments; in the same journey, but by bike, it would be 40 minutes, for that, represents a huge benefit for workers, mainly.
“Saving journey times benefit directly in the people’s quality of life, due to these times we have to add the working hours and there’s no time left for recreation or familiar life”, indicated Grimaldo.
The project will be proposed to Delfina Gomez Alvarez and, if performed, cyclist groups will participate, to be them who provide a better perspective of construction and make it safer.
