500 millones de pesos en ciclopistas 1 Controversia Puebla

The aim is improve and increase sustainable mobility, as the safety and cycling interconnection, for that, the Puebla government will invest 50 million of pesos in cycle paths. That’s what the state government informed, Alejandro Armenta Mier.

The announcement was made at the end of the ride developed at Ecoparque Metropolitano to the Parque del Arte, where the governor was accompanied by Gabriela Sánchez, head of Deporte y Juventud of Puebla.

Armenta mentions that is already performed the diagnosis to determine how to connect the cycle paths of the capital; once is done, it will begin the implementation and construction of these.

Anything will be destroyed

In the same way, the governor indicated that this investment of 50 million of pesos in cycle paths, is not planning to destroy, but construct and adapt more.

The previous after ensuring that won’t destroy any bikeways implemented during the morenovallista period, but will provide them maintenance, the aim is that society use all these roads for a better, faster and healthier mobility through bike.

“We won’t destroy anything, we will improve, we have to take advantage of what was made by others and we have to use the infrastructure because belongs to the poblanos, the money invested belongs to them and we have to use it”, Armenta said.

Innovation and technology

Besides the new construction of new miles of bikeways, this project will try to implement technology to provide greater safety and planning to cyclists’ during their rides.

In this sense, the governor mentioned that various of the bike lanes will have security cameras and photocells from the existent infrastructure. Likewise, users can mark routes in the cycle paths during their journeys, all through geolocation.  

These data may be consulted through a phone app. So, any cyclist can visualize the possible routes to follow.

The investment of 50 million of pesos in cycle paths also includes a new luminaire. This will be set in bike lanes, for those that circulate them during night can do it calmly.

Armenta Mier emphasized that during his six-year term, will construct a bike manufacturer, bikes made in Puebla. In this way, will try to have more accessible costs and reduce the purchase of bikes manufactured in foreign countries, which cost can be expensive.

In addition, the head of executive branch, informed that his government considers to deliver a million of bikes distributed into young population.

Slow but sure

Even though the governor emphasized that the total investment to improve and construct a new cycling infrastructure will be of 500 million of pesos, for now, the total number of new miles to be built was not detailed at the time.

However, is known that in this first stage, the first points to intervene will be Vía Atlixcáyotl, the boulevard of Hermanos Serdán, Periférico and Camino Real.

With this, the Puebla government wants to foster cycling, sport and health. Likewise, having interconnected cycle paths ease mobility, due having separated bikeways with adequate tools (such as confibicis), is easier and safe to get from one point to another, even connecting with other means of public transport.
