
The aim of fostering tourism and sustainable transport, six hotels of Puebla will provide free rental bike service to tourists. In this way, visitors can move easily to points of interest to the also called Bella Airosa or Ciudad del Viento (Wind city).
This will be possible thanks to the council after provide, as bailment, 30 bikes to these hotels located in historical center. The intention is to loan them to tourists without any cost.
However, those ones hosted in chosen venues will use the bike loan service. Likewise, owners of this businesses will be responsible of provide the necessary maintenance.

For this project, they required a minimum investment. The sub secretary of Mobility of City Hall, Rubi Vázquez Cruz, informed that bikes were inherited by the administration of Claudia Rivera Vivanco and these were in disuse, and for that, it was only necessary to provide them maintenance.
In this way, it’s a low-cost project that can bring great benefits. Hotels that will have a bike loan service are: Hotel Colonial de Puebla, Hotel Marqués del Ángel, Hotel Loa Inn Puebla, Hotel Casona 65 and Hotel NH, all located in the first square of city.
Bike loan might extend
Even though for now are only 6 hotels that have the benefit, Vázquez Cruz detailed that program might extend to other places that request it, this thanks have between 20 and 30 more bicycles.
The idea, commented “is to used them to visit the sites of interest of the capital”.
On the other hand, due is a bailment, bikes must return to council on October 14th, day on which the stewardship headed by Adán Domínguez Sánchez finishes.
However, the idea is that the incoming government maintains the project and can implement it permanently or at least, during all the following stewardship.
About the possible bike theft that may exist, sub-secretary detailed that to recognize these vehicles, include a number.

Bike way maintenance and more bike rental programs
Regarding maintenance of Puebla bike ways, Domínguez Sánchez informed that these works consisted in the painting of 33,188 ft of lane separator stripes with thermoplastic paint and more than 6,220 ft cycling crossing stripes, the installation of 540 trapezoidal channelizers, pictograms and board of “bike only” and more actions. According to the future mobility programs that allow the bike rental, Vázquez Cruz indicated that they analyzed the viability of these. Unfortunately, it won’t be time to implement them before the start of the next stewardship. For that, the results will be delivered to the next government to be them who decide if are implemented or not.
